Ashley Carlson

Ashley Carlson is a synchronized skating coach, consultant, choreographer, and sport leader whose work spans athlete development, program building, event management, and high-performance coaching. With more than 30 years in the sport and more than 15 years of coaching experience across the Junior, Senior, Collegiate, Adult, and Masters levels, Ashley has built a reputation for creating innovative opportunities that help athletes and teams thrive both on and off the ice.

In 2026, Ashley founded and coached the U.S. All-Star Synchronized Skating Team, bringing together adult athletes from across the country to represent the United States at the International Skating Union Adult Figure Skating Competition in Oberstdorf, Germany. Guided by the belief that excellence and kindness can coexist at the highest levels of sport, Ashley created an environment where ambitious goals, intentional coaching, and genuine care for athletes went hand in hand. The team made history by becoming the first American adult synchronized skating team to win the event's Adult Synchronized Skating Champions division.

Ashley is the founder and director of the North American Adult Synchronized Skating Camp (NAASSC), the premier training camp for adult synchronized skaters in North America. Through NAASSC, she has created a unique environment where adult athletes can continue to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and build lasting connections within the sport.

Most recently, Ashley launched Alchemy Synchronized Skating, a synchronized skating program based in the Detroit area, where she serves as Head Coach. Inspired by the concept of transformation, Alchemy is built on the belief that extraordinary teams are forged through intentional work, unwavering accountability, mutual trust, and a relentless commitment to continual refinement. The program focuses on refining individual athletes into a cohesive, high-performing team while fostering growth, resilience, and connection both on and off the ice.

Previously, Ashley served as Manager of Marketing & Special Projects for Teams Elite, where she led the development and launch of Destination 2034, a first-of-its-kind Olympic preparation and mentorship program designed to support the next generation of U.S. synchronized skating athletes pursuing international and Olympic goals. The program combined elite training experiences, mentorship, leadership development, and athlete education to help prepare skaters for future success at the highest levels of the sport.

In addition to her coaching and leadership roles, Ashley works as a consultant, choreographer, and guest coach for synchronized skating teams throughout the United States and internationally. Her clients have included national medalists, international competitors, and teams competing at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. She is particularly passionate about athlete-centered coaching, program development, recruitment strategy, leadership education, and creating positive team cultures that support long-term success.

Prior to her current work, Ashley served as Head Coach and Director of Synchronized Skating at Adrian College, where she guided the varsity program to multiple national and international podium finishes. She also represented the United States as a coach at international competitions throughout Europe, including Austria, Croatia, England, France, Italy, Scotland, Sweden, and Switzerland.

As an athlete, Ashley competed in synchronized skating for nearly two decades, earning four U.S. Championships medals, including the 2009 U.S. Adult Championship title with the Crystallettes. She was also a member of the Club Synchronized Skating Team and Intercollegiate Figure Skating Team at Miami University.

Ashley holds a Master of Education in Positive Coaching and Athletic Leadership from the University of Missouri and a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication from Miami University. She resides in Richmond, Virginia, with her husband, Ryan, and their son, Cooper.
